What causes hair loss?
Hair loss is really about diagnosing exactly what’s causing it and figuring out how to address it. It often stems from the overproduction of the hormone DHT (dihydrotestosterone), which interferes with the hair’s natural growth cycle. However, hair loss can also be triggered by other hormonal changes as well as by medical conditions, elevated stress levels, trauma, nutritional deficiencies and the natural aging process. Some hair loss is temporary, but sometimes you lose hair and it doesn’t grow back – at least, not without intervention.
Each hair on your head normally grows about 6 inches a year for about 4-7 years, or even up to 10 years (the anagen growth phase). Then the follicle goes into a transition (catagen) phase for about 1-2 weeks. Next, it goes into the resting telogen phase, when the follicle shrinks and the hair detaches from the base of the bulb. Finally, it pushes out the old hair and a new hair sprouts in its place – the beginning of a new anagen phase. Hair loss occurs when the anagen growth phase shortens and your follicles spend more time in a resting state. Eventually, you’re losing more hair than you’re growing – that’s when you start to notice thinning.
What inspired you to create the Scalp Booster System?
For years, clients have told me, “If you made a hair loss product, I’d buy it.” My answer was always, "If I can find active ingredients that work, I’ll make one.” Then this day came and I did. What makes my Scalp Booster System different is the unique delivery system and the active ingredient, Redensyl®. It has the most promising results I’ve seen from clinical trials.
How does each step in the Scalp Booster System work to combat hair loss?
It starts with the Scalp Booster Pre-Wash powered by a powerful hair-boosting ingredient called Redensyl®. I’m a big believer in Redensyl®, so much so that I’ve designed my entire Scalp Booster System around it. What makes the Scalp Booster Pre-Wash even more effective is what we’ve paired it with: a plant-based compound designed to create a warming sensation as part of the formula’s advanced delivery system. I also added in a mix of Salicylic Acid (an exfoliant), antioxidant Green Tea and Citrus Extracts that help solubilize sebum, breaking down the waxy barrier coating on the scalp for more effective distribution.
Step 2 is the Scalp Booster Shampoo: Made with Redensyl®, Niacin and Caffeine, it sets the stage for hair that feels thicker, fuller and denser. Keratin Amino Acids condition, while Green Tea and a natural Wood Extract offer antioxidant support.
During this step, I recommend using our Silicone Scalp Massager in small circular motions to support healthy scalp and hair.
Step 3: Light and non-greasy, the Scalp Booster Leave-In Conditioner helps extend the benefits even further. It’s powered by Redensyl® to give hair a more abundant and lush appearance, and contains time-released Safflower Oleosomes to keep your hair and scalp feeling and looking their best.
Unlike other treatments, the Scalp Booster System improves the look of volume and density without leaving your hair with a greasy feel.
Do you need to use all 3 products in the System to see results?
No, but you’re likely to see better results if you use all three. They’re all designed to make a difference and work beautifully in combination. The pre-wash treatment gives you a jumpstart with Redensyl; the shampoo supports that; and the leave-in conditioner contains active ingredients and Safflower Oleosomes that release over time. I like to make products that deliver real results. This is my way to make sure all your bases are covered.
* The efficiency of Redensyl at 3% was evaluated in a double-blind test versus a placebo. 26 male volunteers were selected by following specific inclusion criteria: between 18 to 70 years old, brown to dark hair, with a minimum density of hair of 150 hair/ cm2 and 40 telogen hair/cm2, with clinically confirmed grade 3 to 4 alopecia. Volunteers applied the placebo or the product with 3% of Redensyl on their whole scalp daily for 3 months. At the end of 3 months, 85% of volunteers showed clinical improvements: more anagen hair, a higher density, more visible hair.
